From Masso delle Fanciulle to Castello dei Vescovi
Tours in the Berignone Nature Reserve not far from the ancient village of Volterra
Fantastic hiking loop within the Berignone Nature Reserve, one of Tuscany's green lungs. We will discover heavenly river corners, forests of intact Mediterranean scrub, surprising geological outcrops to end with a refreshing swim at the fabulous natural pool of Masso degli Specchi!
We will begin with an easy ford on the Cecina River to take us soon after inside the historic reserve, frequented by woodcutters and charcoal burners as well as a symbolic place of the Resistance.
Through a shady path immersed in the Mediterranean maquis we will reach an extraordinary viewpoint from which we can admire the whole valley, our itinerary will continue towards the Sellate Torrent and the confluence with the Botro al Rio with its spectacular conglomerates.
We will go up to the historic Castle of the Bishops, (9th century) it is an ancient Medieval Fortress in a strategic position and with a turbulent past, finally we will arrive at our amazing destination, the stretch on the Cecina River where among puddles, natural pools and small waterfalls we will stop at the Masso degli Specchi for a refreshing dip ending in beauty an experience of great nature and fun.

- Masso delle Fanciulle e il Masso degli Specchi (Boulder of the Maidens and the Boulder of the Mirrors).
The tour will take place on Sunday, June 23, starting at 9:00 am.
